Darius Miller Bandshell
New Britain, CT

The Olmsted Legacy Trail Walnut Hill Park walkway culminates at this hillside acoustical band shell, originally built in 1939 and reconstructed in 1966 after a fire. The QA+M Architecture design team completely restored the city landmark following long-term exposure to vandalism and decay. A new cast iron fencing system was also designed to secure the stage after-hours and to maintain the structure’s aesthetic character. Finally, the exterior paint scheme was restored to its original dusk-time brilliance.
