Connecticut State Capitol Building
This major restoration of the landmark State Capitol building was the first exterior restoration carried out by the State since the building’s construction in 1879. It included documenting the existing conditions of the exterior. We then assessed the level of deterioration of the stone masonry, wood windows, and ornamental ironwork and provided construction details and treatments for their repair.
We also undertook a similar assessment of the slate and metal roofing, including the extensive decorative copper hollow metal work and the cast iron cresting. We worked as part of a team, developing construction documents for the replacement of most of the original roofing systems and decorative metalwork.
